Lansing, Mich., May 9, 2013 — Randy Shacka, president of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® INTERNATIONAL, Inc., a franchised moving company based in Lansing, Michigan, received the Applied Engineering Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award Saturday, May 4.
This award, established in 2004, is given annually to alumni who possess high standards of integrity that positively reflect on the college and university, show leadership in the community and demonstrate support of the applied engineering sciences program, the College of Engineering and Michigan State University.
“I am honored to receive the 2013 Applied Engineering Sciences alumni award through Michigan State University,” said Shacka. “There are so many talented individuals out there doing great things in the world. So to be selected means the world to me. I will do my part to help continue to build the tradition with the AES major and represent the program and the university like a true Spartan!”
Professor Jon Sticklen, Director of MSU’s AES program described Shacka as one of the rising executive stars among the AES program’s graduates over the thirty-three year history of the program.
“We are extremely proud of Randy and the other executive management graduates of AES. Over the coming years we are confident that as Randy interacts with current AES students based on his position and his life experiences, whole new generations of AES students will directly benefit from Randy’s perspectives and executive abilities. We are glad that Randy is an AES graduate!”
Shacka graduated with a degree in applied engineering sciences from Michigan State University in 2004. He got his start at the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® corporate offices in Lansing, Mich., as an intern in
the marketing department while finishing his degree. Randy fell in love with the company, as it was so similar to his previous internship at Walt Disney World, from the people to the culture. Throughout his nearly 13 years with the company, Shacka has held many positions including franchise development specialist, director of operations and chief operating officer. Just last August, Shacka was appointed to president of the company. This marked the first time anyone outside of the founding family has ever held this role.
He currently serves on the board of directors of the MSU Alumni Club of Livingston County and is a Certified Franchise Executive through the International Franchise Association. He is a member of the Brighton Chamber of Commerce Axis Program (Young Leaders) and St. Patrick Catholic Church.
