TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® announces opening of Kane-Dupage, Ill., location

North Aurora, Ill. – Franchisees Alex and Wendy Petrusha are pleased to announce the opening of the Kane-Dupage location.

The franchise, located at 370 Smoke Tree Business Park in North Aurora, is part of a system that includes 120 locations in 25 states and over 720 trucks. In addition to offering local residential and commercial moving services, the franchise will sell boxes and packing supplies, and offer complete packing services.

The Petrushas are confident that the Kane-Dupage commitment to customer service will lead to a lot of satisfied customers. “Our goal is to exceed our customers’ expectations,” Petrusha said, adding that the franchise understands each customer’s unique needs. “We can move anything ranging from one large item to an entire household or business.”

The Petrushas, who live in South Elgin, agree that Kane-Dupage will take an active role in community activities. “Commitment to the community is a cornerstone of the system,” Petrusha said, referring to the fact that CEO and Founder Mary Ellen Sheets took all the profits from her first year in business and donated them to 10 different charities. “As parents (three-year-old Dmitria and one-year-old Lucas) and residents of the area, we are already involved, but once you become business owners, it is even more important to give back to the communities that continually support your business.”

Founded in 1985, the system began when Sheets took over her sons' moving business. Sheets' daughter, Melanie Bergeron, joined the business in 1994 as president, and her two sons Brig and Jon Sorber (the original "two men") also still play key roles in the system. “We really like the family-oriented atmosphere,” Petrusha said. “It was exactly what we had been looking for and why we wanted to be a part of the company.”

Both Alex and Wendy have backgrounds in the automotive industry. A graduate of Oakland University (Mich.) with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Alex spent the last 10 years with Chrysler Automotive. Wendy, who holds a bachelor’s degree in product design engineering technology from Ferris State University (Mich.), spent five years with various automotive systems companies before becoming CEO of the Petrusha household after the birth of their daughter.

But they will have more than that experience alone to rely on. As part of their franchise training, the Petrushas attended in Lansing, Michigan. , operated by the corporate office, is a specialized training center specifically geared toward employees and franchisees in the moving industry. Attendees learn the latest operational techniques, and sharpen their skills in a number of other areas including customer service, marketing, management, and computer technology.
