How do moving companies work with insurance? Learn how insurance and damage protection works before your next home move

There are plenty of aspects to consider when preparing for a home move and mentally processing it all can be overwhelming at times.

One of the biggest worries we’ve heard is with the safety of your belongings when hiring professional movers. At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, we’ve built a reputation over multiple decades as professional movers you can trust — this means limiting the amount of damages on moves and offering insurance and damage protection for our customers to give them peace of mind.

How does this insurance and damage protection work? We’ll answer a few of the most frequently asked questions below!

Is TWO MEN AND A TRUCK fully insured?

Yes! It’s required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration for our teams to be fully insured, and we carry the federally required amounts of insurance for public liability, property damage, and cargo loss and damage.

Can I purchase third-party insurance?

If you choose to do so, you can purchase third-party insurance. It’s worth checking with your homeowner’s insurance prior to doing so to see if you’re already covered and what your options are there.

Can I obtain additional valuation coverage for specific items?

You can, but you must identify exactly what items for which the coverage is purchased and declare a corresponding increase in value of your household goods shipment prior to the move.
